Steamed Fish with Asian Greens
Ensuring your little one is consuming enough vegetables can be tricky. The National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) of Australia recommends that toddlers aged 1-3 years should have 2-3 serves of vegetables and half a serve of fruit each day. This dish is packed full of healthy green veggies.
Fatty fish such as salmon and tuna are a good source of omega-3 essential fatty acids. Children need these fats to build the structure of their brains. Fish is a great source of protein to ensure your little one is left feeling full. Steamed Fish with Asian Greens Recipe
- Suitable from: 8+ month old
- Preparation time: 5 minutes
- Cooking time: 15 minutes
- Ingredients: 100g fish fillet such as tuna or salmon, 1 bunch baby Pak Choi, 1 bunch Gai Lan /Chinese broccoli (3-4 leaves), ½ cup sugar snap peas, ½ teaspoon freshly grated ginger, optional: ¼ large red chilli deseeded
- Chop the ends off the pak choi. Roughly chop into small pieces of 2-4 cms.
- Slice the sugar snap peas and gai lan into 1cm pieces.
- Peel and grate the ginger.
- If using chilli, slice in half and deseed. Slice in half again chop into very small pieces.
- Slice the fish into approximately 1cm cubes ensuring there are no bones.
- Place the fish, and all other ingredients into the steamer basket of the Babycook.
- Fill the Babycook with water to level 3 and press steam button.
- When cooked put all of the ingredients in the blending bowl while reserving the cooking liquid. Blend adding the reserved liquid to reach desired consistency.

If serving to toddlers, children or adults, there is no need to blend and you may wish to cover the fish in soy sauce prior to cooking. This dish can also be accompanied with some rice.
